FBI Apostille for Japan – Apostille & Courier Providers
VisaDC provides federal apostille and courier assistance for official FBI Identity History Summary reports intended for use in Japan. You can start by emailing your official FBI electronic PDF from anywhere in the United States or abroad.
$128 per FBI document. Return shipping and applicable payment fees are not included.
FBI Background Check Apostille for Japan
Japan is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. When the authority handling your application requests an apostilled FBI report, the report follows the federal process through the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC.
An apostille authenticates the issuing official’s signature or seal. A state apostille on a notarized copy does not replace the federal apostille on an FBI report.
Before You Order
Check the current instructions from the consulate, immigration office, employer, or other authority receiving your document in Japan. Confirm:
- Whether it requires an FBI Identity History Summary for your specific procedure.
- Whether an apostille is required.
- How recently the FBI report must have been issued.
- Whether a translation is needed and which translator qualifications are accepted.
- Whether you must present the physical apostilled document or may initially submit a scan.
Requirements depend on the application. An FBI report is not automatically required for every visa, residence, employment, or citizenship procedure.
Apostille and Courier Assistance
VisaDC reviews your FBI report, prepares the required submission paperwork, hand-delivers the request to the U.S. Department of State, collects the completed document, and arranges return delivery.
VisaDC is a private document-processing and courier company, independent of government agencies. The U.S. Department of State issues the federal apostille.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I begin while I am in Japan?
Yes. Email your official FBI-issued PDF and completed request form. International return shipping is available.
Must I wait for a paper FBI report?
VisaDC accepts the official FBI-issued electronic PDF for apostille processing. If you only have a paper report or scan, contact us before proceeding.
Does the apostille update the report’s issue date?
No. Your FBI report retains its original issue date. Check your receiving authority’s document-age rule before ordering.
Is a translation included?
No. Translation is separate from the $128 apostille fee. Confirm the required language and certification with the authority receiving your application in Japan.
Can two applicants send their reports together?
Yes. Each report requires its own apostille and per-document fee. Ask us to confirm combined return shipping arrangements.
Does an apostille guarantee acceptance?
The receiving authority decides whether the report and supporting documents meet its requirements. An apostille does not approve a visa, residence permit, employment application, or citizenship request.
